The KV Rangers finished in first place with a 24-4-2 record in the New Brunswick Bantam AAA league after defeating the Dieppe Flyers 6-1 on Monday night.


It was the last regular season game for the Rangers as they prepare to co-host the provincials, which begin Thursday at both the qplex and the Lord Beaverbrook rink in Saint John.


Zach Long and Sam King each scored a pair for the Rangers while Will Kelly and Ben Reid each added a marker. Chris Higgins earned two assists, while Reid, Will Drummond, Jackson Thomas and Matt Mason each earned one.


Goalie Jacob Stewart stood on his head, stopping a penalty shot awarded to the Flyers and all but one shot on goal.
 

Felix LeBlanc was the sole Flyer to find the back of the twine.  

 

The provincial playoffs begin Thursday at 9 a.m. at both the qplex and the LBR.


The KV Rangers meet Miramichi at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday followed by a 7:30 p.m. meeting with the Fredericton Canadiens.
